2011 ASCE North Coast Branch Project of the Year
LACO created the master development plan, design, and civil engineering for Tish Non Village. This multi-disciplinary project included the following features on a 115-acre site:
- Two miles of roads
- Utilities
- Water well
- 200,000 gallon water storage tank
- Water treatment facility
- 50,000 gallon per day wastewater treatment facility with a patented shallow micro drip reuse disposal system in a recreational sports field
- 60 residential lots
- Commercial facilities
- Recreational facilities
- Community center
- Assisted living facility
Our project team worked closely with the Bureau of Indian Affair’s (BIA) staff and submitted the following in accordance with BIA procedural requirements:
- Survey control of right of way and roadway alignments
- Drainage and stormwater management plans
- Grading, roadway, and utility designs and specifications
- All required cross-sections, details, quantities, and BIA special design provisions
We completed this project on schedule and met necessary requirements for BIA project funding due to team efforts in communication and working relationships with both the client and the BIA. Our project team reduced construction costs by 40% for wastewater disposal infrastructure by utilizing patented netaphem technology. This application also served as shallow subsurface irrigation of a community sports field.
In addition, LACO has been the principal engineer for the overall project and provided survey, geology, planning, and engineering services for:
- Site topography, project base mapping, and site planning
- Hydrology studies, grading, and drainage plans
- Geotechnical engineering Analysis and design of land-based waste discharge and wastewater re-use
- Utility plans including designs for the wastewater treatment facility and the sanitary sewer collection system; groundwater water well investigation and design; and drinking water storage, treatment, and distribution system design
- All supporting details, cross-sections, specifications, and engineer’s cost estimates for both the construction of phase I elements and for procurement of outside agency funding
- NEPA compliance and FONSI for gas station mini mart
- Construction administration services
- Construction materials testing and special inspections
