LACO President and CEO to Present at Upcoming Water Rights Seminar in Hopland, CA

(Ukiah, CA – December 4, 2012) - LACO's President and CEO, Christopher Watt, CEG, CHG, will present a discussion on distinguishing between groundwater and subterranean streams at the upcoming “Water Rights 101– Refresher Course and Updates on Water Related Topics" on Wednesday December 12, 2012 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the new Rod Shippey Education Facility at the UC Hopland Field Station in Hopland, CA. Topics that will be covered include: 

  • Understanding the permitting requirements and changes affecting water rights
  • Regulatory requirements for diversions and storage of surface water and subterranean flow 
  • Enforcement activities against storage ponds 
  • Update on the status of AB 2121- the North Coast In-Stream Flow Policy 
  • Small irrigation pond registrations- What the new process entails 
  • Groundwater- percolating or hydraulically connected
  • Jurisdiction related to the use of groundwater
