Engineering Geologist, Christopher Watt, CEG, CHG, Earns Hydrogeology Certification

(Ukiah, CA – January 20, 2012) – North Coast engineering and consulting firm, LACO, continues to expand their capacity to help clients navigate groundwater resource and quality regulations.

Adding to his fourteen years of practice in hydrogeology, LACO’s Principal Engineering Geologist, Geo-Environmental Services Director, and Ukiah Office Director, Christopher Watt recently earned his Certified Hydrogeologist (CHG) licensure through the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs. Hydrogeologists look at how water, a vital resource, moves through aquifers.  Understanding the location and movement of water through the ground is essential to preserving the beneficial uses of the resource.  Balancing the demands of users with their varying needs has created a complex world of water quality and resource management obligations.

“As the demand on water supplies have reached or is close to reaching critical levels, water users and resource managers are moving to utilize groundwater specialists such as CHGs to perform water resource and quality assessments, particularly when new public water supply wells are proposed, or when existing wells are proximal to surface water bodies or impacted by pollutants.”
