Christopher Watt, CEG Elected as President of LACO Associates

(Eureka, CA – June 14, 2012) LACO Associates (LACO) is pleased to announce a transition in leadership of the firm. On June 13th, the firm’s Board of Directors elected Christopher Watt, CEG, CHG as LACO’s new President, following the semi-retirement of Leonard Osborne, PE, who lead the firm for 12 years. This transition has been in the planning process for the past 18 months. Mr. Osborne will continue with LACO in a part-time capacity as an advisor to their Board of Directors and consulting on projects with key clients. This will allow him to pursue several long planned personal and professional ambitions. The election of the new president is consistent with the firm’s strategy for growth in regions to the south of their Eureka headquarters, including Mendocino, Lake, and Sonoma Counties.

Mr. Watt has over 15 years of experience in environmental and geologic site investigations supporting municipalities, small to mid-sized businesses, and national environmental consultants. He holds California licensure as a Professional Geologist, Certified Engineering Geologist, and Certified Hydrogeologist. Mr. Watt has led the growth of the firm by successfully managing new offices in Ukiah, and most recently Santa Rosa, as LACO’s Geo-Environmental Services Director. His specialties include hydrogeologic and engineering geologic evaluations, air/water quality monitoring, and environmental site assessments (ESAs). Mr. Watt’s accumulated project experience includes design and operation of remediation and water supply systems, Phase I/II ESAs, fault hazard evaluations, foundation recommendations, and slope stability assessments. He has developed an identity as a problem solver through his work with regulatory and permitting agencies in Northern California including the SWRCB, several RWQCBs, USACE, CDFG, and the resource management departments of many Counties and Cites. Throughout his career, he has built an impressive portfolio of site remediation projects accomplishments.

“It is with deep appreciation for the role and trust given to me by the firm that I humbly accept the role of President at LACO,” says Watt. “Through my 15 years at LACO I have worked to make the firm successful and a great place to work. I am committed to leading in the footsteps of the former Presidents with a keen vision for noticing and capturing opportunities to help our clients, while setting the stage for our community development services, and continuing to hold solid our founding offer, Civil Engineering. As we extend our marketplace to points south, I challenge us all to continue providing great client service and value to our clients.”

Frank Bickner, PG will continue to serve as Vice President, focused on sales and marketing efforts for the firm. LACO’s Board of Directors also elected Planning Director, Mike Nelson, to serve as Vice President. Mr. Nelson will continue to focus on the firm’s Community Development service offers. LACO is also pleased to welcome their newest Board member, Nate Toews, PE, as LACO’s Civil Engineering Lead.
